Bio

Jani Hileman is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice navigates sculpture, storytelling and performance. Her work is often made with hands-on, labor intensive processes that allow the materials to influence the final aesthetic of each of her projects.

Jani draws inspiration from process, materials and the natural world. Hileman explores craft, human connection to nature and each other through her works.

Jani has shown work throughout the mid-Atlantic region, having participated in group shows such as On The Verge at Creative Alliance and Baltimore Clayworks’ 40th anniversary show Past, Present and Future. She recently showed her Creative Alliance residency project, Live Sculpting in Baltimore at Creative Alliance’s Main Gallery in Fall 2022.

Jani is the main force behind Jord’s Hoard, a small business selling handmade goods inspired by nature. Started in 2022, Jord’s Hoard products can be found at many local pop - up markets and a few brick and mortar locations on the east coast of the USA.

From Lancaster, Pennsylvania, she completed her BFA at The Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and is currently based in Baltimore, MD.
